Early Life and Education

Zachary Woods was born on September 25, 1984, in Trenton, New Jersey, to a Jewish family. His father, Robert, is a psychiatrist and social worker, while his mother, Janne, is a nurse. Zachary grew up in Yardley, Pennsylvania, where he attended Pennsbury High School and graduated in 2003. He later attended New York University and graduated with a degree in theater.

Improvisation and Teaching

Woods' interest in comedy started at an early age. He began performing improvisation at the Upright Citizens Brigade theater in New York City at just 16 years old. He was also part of the improv sketch comedy troupe "The Stepfathers" with Bobby Moynihan and Chris Gethard. Woods taught improvisation at various institutions, including Columbia University, Duke University, and Lincoln Center.

Acting Career

"The Office" (2010-2013)

Woods joined the cast of the NBC sitcom "The Office" in 2010, playing the character Gabe Lewis. He was promoted to main cast member in Season 7, appearing in a total of 45 episodes.

"Silicon Valley" (2014-present)

In 2014, Woods began starring in the HBO comedy "Silicon Valley" as Jared Dunn. The show follows a group of eccentric tech entrepreneurs and has become a critical and commercial success.

Other Appearances

In addition to his roles in "The Office" and "Silicon Valley," Woods has also appeared in numerous films and television shows. He had prominent roles in "The Informant!" (2009), "The Hangover Part II" (2011), and "Spy" (2015). He also played Ed Webster in the HBO series "Veep" (2016-2017).
