Biography of Zebo Tajiev
Zebo Tajiev is a highly qualified ophthalmologist, a doctor of the highest category, a candidate of medical sciences, an associate professor, and the coordinator of the International Commission for the Improvement of Ophthalmological Education in Central Asian countries. She was born on April 17, 1955, in Dushanbe. Her father, Abibov A.A., is a renowned philologist and orientalist, and a professor.
Early Career
After graduating from the Tajik State Medical Institute in 1978, Tajiev worked as an ophthalmologist at the Republican Clinical Hospital No. 3. In 1982, she organized and led the Republican Ophthalmooncology Center until 1997. In 1987, she defended her dissertation on "Metastatic Tumors of the Visual Organ: Clinical Aspects and Treatment."
Professional Achievements
In 1997, Tajiev moved to Moscow, where she became the chief ophthalmologist of the Southwest Administrative District. In 2010, she was recognized as the laureate of the All-Russian competition for the title of "Best Doctor" in the category of "Best Ophthalmologist." Tajiev has been awarded the Honorary Diploma of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Tajikistan (1989), the Honorary Diploma of the Department of Health of Moscow (2009), and the Honorary Diploma of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation (2010). She has authored 73 scientific papers on general and oncological ophthalmology. Her most famous scientific works are dedicated to the problems of metastatic lesions of the visual organ, the peculiarities of primary and secondary tumors of the orbit, and lacrimal gland neoplasms.
Other Contributions
Tajiev was a deputy of the Dushanbe City Council of Workers' Deputies from 1986 to 1991. She is a member of the Russian Society of Ophthalmologists (2001), the coordinator of the International Commission for the Improvement of Ophthalmological Education in Central Asian countries (2007), and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) (2012). Apart from her medical career, Tajiev is also professionally involved in artistic and portrait photography. She received the Diploma of the International Sony World Photography Awards in the category of "Light and Shadows" in New York in 2012.
