Zeina Akar: A Distinguished Politician and Businesswoman
Education and Early LifeZeina Akar, a prominent Lebanese politician, was born into a family with a strong entrepreneurial spirit. Political Career
Appointment as Vice Prime Minister and Minister of DefenseOn January 21, 2020, Zeina Akar was appointed as Lebanon's Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Defense in the government of Hassan Diab. In August 2020, Akar resigned from her post in the wake of massive protests that followed the devastating explosions in Beirut's port. The protests blamed the government for its failure to prevent the tragedy. Akar's resignation, along with that of Prime Minister Hassan Diab, triggered the collapse of the government.

Zeina Akar is a member of the Free Patriotic Movement, a political party led by President Michel Aoun. She adheres to the Orthodox Christian faith.
