Early Life and Education
Zhanna Kadyrova was born in 1981 in Brovary, a city in the Kyiv Oblast of Ukraine. Her artistic journey began with her graduation from the Kyiv State Art School named after T. G. Shevchenko in 1999, where she majored in sculpture.
Artistic Collaborations and Initiatives
Zhanna Kadyrova emerged as a vibrant force in the Ukrainian art scene by initiating and participating in numerous artistic groups, exhibitions, and projects. She co-founded the experimental art space "R.E.P." (Revolutionary Experimental Space), and played an active role in art collectives such as "Penoplast" (a punk music band), "8=8," "Captured City," "City of Winners," "No Jury, No Prize," and "New History" (exhibited at the Kharkiv Art Museum).
Public Art and Installations
Zhanna Kadyrova's artistic practice extends beyond traditional gallery spaces into the public realm. In 2009, she created the "Monument to the New Monument" in the city of Shargorod. Her sculptural installation "Benches-Graphics," part of the "Kiev Fashion Park" project, transforms urban furniture into artistic canvases.
Recognition and Awards
Zhanna Kadyrova's innovative approach and significant contributions to the Ukrainian contemporary art scene have garnered her numerous accolades. In 2011, she received a special award from PinchukArtCentre. In 2012, her work "Form of Light" won the Sergey Kuryokhin Award for Public Art. The prestigious Kazimierz Malevich Award followed in December of the same year, and in 2013, she was honored with the main prize from PinchukArtCentre.
