Zharko Buladzic
Early Life and Education
Veselin Djuranović was born on July 22, 1922, in Vilusi, near Nikšić, Montenegro. He pursued his studies at the Institute of Social Sciences, where he earned a degree in law. Additionally, he obtained a PhD in agricultural economics with a dissertation on "Agrarian Relations in Montenegro 1876-1912."
Political Career
Partisan ActivityFrom 1941 onward, Djuranović actively participated in the People's Liberation War of Yugoslavia. He became a member of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia during this period.
Post-War Role
After the war, Veselin Djuranović assumed several roles in education and scholarship. He served as the editor-in-chief of the publishing house "Rad" and later as an assistant dean at the Economics Faculty of the University of Belgrade. In 1960, he became a professor of economics at the same university and a lecturer at the Agricultural Faculty.
Political Leadership
Djuranović held various positions within the League of Communists in Serbia and the City Committee of the League of Communists in Belgrade. From October 7, 1969, to May 6, 1974, he served as the Chairman of the Executive Council of the Socialist Republic of Montenegro.
Recognition and Legacy
In 1983, Veselin Djuranović received the Anti-Fascist Assembly of the People's Liberation of Yugoslavia Award. His contributions to Montenegro's economic and political development were recognized through various Yugoslav awards and the prestigious Partisan Medal 1941.
