Zheng Siwei: Chinese Badminton Superstar
Early Success and National RecognitionZheng Siwei entered the national badminton team in 2013 after achieving remarkable success in junior competitions. From 2013 to 2015, he won four gold, one silver, and one bronze medal at the World Junior Championships, as well as six gold and one silver medal at the Asian Junior Championships.
International Breakthrough
Despite being a junior player, Zheng demonstrated his talent in adult competitions. He won doubles titles at the New Zealand Open and the Brasil Open. In recognition of his achievements, the BWF awarded him the Eddie Choong "Most Promising Player of the Year" award in 2015.
Rise to World Dominance
In 2016, Zheng partnered with Chen Qingchen and achieved a significant breakthrough. They reached the final of 13 Superseries events, winning the prestigious Dubai World Superseries Finals in 2016 and 2017. They also claimed the silver medal at the 2017 World Championships.
New Partnership and Continued Success
In November 2017, Zheng formed a new partnership with Huang Yaqiong. Their partnership began exceptionally well as they won the China Open, Hong Kong Open, and Macau Open consecutively.
Zheng and Huang rose to the No. 1 world ranking in mixed doubles on August 9, 2018. They won seven World Tour titles in 2018, including the World Championships and Asian Games gold medals.
