Zhyldyz Bakashova
Жылдыз Бакашова: Early Life and Education
Zhyldyz Bakashova was born on April 26, 1960, in Przhevalsk (now Karakol), Kyrgyzstan. In 1982, she graduated from the Faculty of Journalism at Kyrgyz National University (KGNU), and in 1988, she completed postgraduate studies.
Professional Career
Bakashova's career began in 1984 when she became a lecturer at KGNU's Department of Television and Radio Journalism. From 1992 to 2000, she served as an expert for the Committee on International and Inter-Parliamentary Relations of the Jogorku Kenesh, and as an advisor to the Speaker of the Assembly of People's Representatives of the Jogorku Kenesh on a voluntary basis. From 1999 to 2003, she headed the Department of Television and Radio Journalism and later became the Dean of the Faculty of Journalism at KGNU.
In 2003, Bakashova was appointed Vice-Rector of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From May to July 2005, she worked as an expert for the Secretariat of the Commission on State Awards of the Administration of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic.
In July 2005, Bakashova became the Director of the Public Fund of the Academy of Higher Education TeasnEKh, a USAID project, and concurrently served as an expert on the project "Industrial Strengthening and Capacity Building for Sustainable Development in Kyrgyzstan." In November 2005, she was appointed Director of the National Library of Kyrgyzstan. On June 14, 2016, she was elected Chairperson of the Supervisory Board of KTRK.
Political Career
In May 2021, Bakashova became Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic. She held this position until October, when she was relieved of her duties.
