Ziggy Marley: A Biography
Ziggy Marley, a Jamaican reggae musician, is the eldest son of legendary reggae singer Bob Marley. Born on October 17, 1968, in Trenchtown, Kingston, Jamaica, Ziggy and his siblings formed the band "The Melody Makers" under the guidance of their father. In 1979, they made their first recording, "Children Playing in the Streets".

The Melody Makers gained popularity and performed at various venues, including Bob Marley's funeral in 1981. Their debut album, "Play the Game Right", released in 1983, was heavily influenced by pop music and received mixed reviews from critics. However, their sound evolved, and in 1988, they signed with Virgin Records and released the album "Conscious Party", which received positive feedback from both critics and the public.

The success continued with their subsequent albums, "One Bright Day" in 1989 and "Jahmekya" in 1991. Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers became four-time Grammy Award winners. They also released several successful singles, including "True to Myself," "Drive," "People Get Ready," and the chart-topping hit "Tomorrow People".
However, by the mid-1990s, the Melody Makers' sales began to decline, with average results for "Joy and Blues" in 1993 and "Free Like We Want 2 B" in 1995. During this time, Ziggy Marley became involved in political activism, collaborating with the United Nations and establishing his own record label, "Ghetto Youths Crew".
Ziggy Marley's first solo album, "Dragonfly", was released on April 15, 2003. It was followed by his second album, "Love is My Religion", on July 2, 2006, released with the assistance of the record label "Tuff Going Worldwide". In May 2008, he collaborated with Donna Summer on her song "Crayons".
Marley is married to Orly Marley, a former vice president of the entertainment agency "William Morris Agency". Orly currently manages Ziggy Marley himself and his record label "Tuff Going Worldwide". The couple has five children together: Daniel, Justice, Zuri, Judah, and Gideon. Ziggy Marley owns three homes, located in Jamaica, California, and the Bahamas.
