Zita and Gita Rezahano: The Amazing Story of Conjoined Twins

Zita and Gita Rezahano were born in 1991 in the village of Zapadnoye Sokuluk of the Chui region in Kyrgyzstan. From the moment they entered the world, it was clear that they were conjoined twins, with three legs and a shared pelvis. Despite the seemingly impossible task of separating them, the doctors at the Filatov Children's Hospital in Moscow took on the challenge.

The Groundbreaking Surgery

On March 26, 2003, Zita and Gita underwent a groundbreaking surgery led by a team of surgeons headed by A.Y. Razumovsky. The operation was incredibly complex, and the risk of losing one or both of the girls was high. However, the operation was successful, and both Zita and Gita were given a new chance at life.

Life After Separation

Following the separation, both girls underwent additional surgeries to ensure their health and well-being. They now live their lives under constant medical supervision and take medications regularly. Despite these challenges, Zita and Gita have been living separately for over 10 years. They both wear prosthetic legs and remain incredibly close, just as they were in childhood.
