Early Career and Breakthrough in Italy

Born in Slovenia, Milivoje Novaković began his football career as a striker in his home country. In 2001, he made the significant move to Italian Serie A club Parma, where he spent three seasons with the youth team.

Loan Spells and Serie B Success

In the 2004/05 season, Novaković was loaned to Serie B side Empoli. He made 10 appearances and played a pivotal role in the team's victory in Serie B. The following season, he returned briefly to Parma before being sent on another loan to struggling Serie B club Cremonese. Despite Cremonese's relegation, Novaković managed to score 5 goals in 17 matches.

Solid Performances in Serie B

Back in Parma, Novaković made six appearances in Serie A before joining Serie B team Frosinone during the 2006/07 season. He continued to show his scoring prowess, netting 26 goals in nearly three seasons across Frosinone and Piacenza.

Move to the Bundesliga

In June 2009, Novaković transferred to German Bundesliga club Bochum, where he has been playing ever since.

International Career with Slovenia

Novaković debuted for the Slovenian national team in 2004 and has made 21 appearances to date. He scored his first international goal in a 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Poland in 2008. In 2009, he repeated the feat, scoring against Poland again in a home match.

Triumphant Home Win against Russia

Novaković played a crucial role in Slovenia's qualification for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. In the return leg of the qualifying play-off against Russia, he scored the winning goal at home, securing Slovenia's passage to the tournament.

Loan to Dynamo Dresden

In 2011, Novaković was loaned for a year to Dynamo Dresden in Germany.
