Early Days and Formation

In 1990, high school friends Alexey Yuzlenko (guitar, vocals), Oleg Miroshkin (bass guitar), and Mikhail Yavnykh (guitar) decided to start a band. They were joined by Sergey Fomin (drums) and Denis Tereshkin (flute). Due to Fomin's lack of drumming experience, the band sent him to a local youth center to learn, where they also found their first rehearsal space.

First Concerts and Lineup Changes

After six months of rehearsals, the band, now named "Bardak," played their first concert to a surprisingly receptive audience. The band performed several more concerts, but in the following year, Yavnykh and Tereshkin left to pursue other endeavors.

Comeback and New Sound

In 1995, Yuzlenko returned from military service and decided to revive the band. Sergey Gerasimov (drums) and Sergey Franchikhin (guitar) joined the lineup, along with Gerasimov's rehearsal space. The band rebranded as "Kheylon Bob" and played their first concert at the "Diamond" club in Sokolniki, Moscow.

Album Recording and Departure of Yavnykh

The band continued to perform and eventually recorded their first full-length album, "Bethlehem Star," which featured the music video "Winter." Yavnykh departed again, and the band recruited Ekaterina Khozbaba as his replacement.

Collaboration with "Splin"

With a new rehearsal space and equipment, the band recorded a demo that fell into the hands of Igor Danilkin, the manager of the band "Splin." The band reduced its activity and entered the studio. Due to the difficulty of pronouncing the name "Kheylon Bob," they changed it to "ZNAKI."

Success and Recognition

With the addition of Andrey Yanochkin on keyboards and Alexander Grechanikov on drums, ZNAKI recorded their debut album under the sound production of Sergei Navetny, drummer of "Splin." The album went through four revisions before its release. Guitarist Elena Sigalova also replaced Khozbaba in the lineup.

ZNAKI performed at the FUZZ 2006 awards, various festivals, and other venues. They toured Siberia, St. Petersburg, and featured in three music videos: "Polly," "Arrows," and "Mother."

Recognition and Continued Success

In 2007, ZNAKI received the FUZZ magazine award for "Discovery of the Year." They released their album "Inside Out" and performed at the "Our People in the City" festival in St. Petersburg, the "Independence Day of Russia" celebration on Red Square, and several club concerts. Sigalova later departed the band, with Valery Bukhtoyarov taking her place. The band began working on new material and planned concerts for the upcoming season.
