Zoe Carroll Chao, born September 19, 1985, in Providence, Rhode Island, boasts a diverse ancestry. Her mother, Sue Carroll, is of English and Irish descent, while her father, Bruce Chao, has Chinese roots. Her paternal grandmother immigrated to Michigan from China. Chao's parents were artists, and she has a younger sister.

Acting Career

In "Strangers," Chao portrayed Isobel, a young woman exploring her bisexuality, navigating the move from Los Angeles to New York, and transitioning from landlord to tenant. In the romantic dramedy anthology series "Love Life," she played Sarah Yang.
Chao's filmography includes the 2020 film "The High Note," in which she starred as Laura, one of three pregnant friends.
