Zoran Todorovich: A Biography

Zoran Todorovich is a German opera singer of Serbian descent, known for his lyrical tenor voice. He was born in Belgrade, Serbia, when it was still part of Yugoslavia. Todorovich began his musical studies at the Belgrade Conservatoire, where he studied piano and vocal performance. He later completed his education at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts, graduating with honors.

Todorovich's career began at the Landetheater Detmold in Munich, where he made his debut in the role of the Duke in "Rigoletto" at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville. This performance caught the attention of key European theaters, leading to invitations to perform in Madrid, Vienna, Berlin, Hamburg, Brussels, Nice, and Tokyo. He has since performed in renowned opera houses such as the Bavarian State Opera, Staatsoper Berlin, Netherlands Opera, Theatre Royale de la Monnaie in Brussels, Vienna State Opera, San Francisco Opera, Covent Garden, National Theatre in Tokyo, and many others.

Todorovich's wide repertoire includes major dramatic tenor roles. In 2004, he expanded his repertoire to include spinto roles, starting with the role of Cavaradossi in "Tosca." He has also added roles such as Don José in "Carmen," Don Carlos, Jason in "Medee" by Cherubini, Calaf in "Turandot," and many others. In 2009, Todorovich successfully performed his first Wagnerian role, Lohengrin, at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo.

During the 2010-2011 season, Todorovich debuted as Andrea Chenier at L'Opera de Marseille, returned to Teatro Massimo to sing Dick Johnson in "La Fanciulla del West," and performed his first Jean in Hérodiade by Massenet at the Flemish Opera in Ghent and Antwerp. He also portrayed Pollione in "Norma" alongside Edita Gruberova at the Bavarian State Opera, and collaborated with her again for a concert performance of "Roberto Devereux" in Warsaw.

In subsequent years, Todorovich performed roles such as Ismaele in "Nabucco" in Brussels, Pinkerton in a Tokyo production of "Madama Butterfly," and Andrea Chenier at the Geneva Opera. He made his debut at the Opéra Bastille in Paris as Don Alvaro in "La Forza del Destino," at Gran Teatro del Liceo in Barcelona with "La Fanciulla del West," and at L'Opera de Monte Carlo in a new production of "Francesca da Rimini."

In 2013, Todorovich made his debut in Zurich as Turiddu in "Cavalleria Rusticana" and Canio in "Pagliacci." He also added new Wagnerian and Verdi roles to his repertoire, including Parsifal at the Flemish Opera and Radamès in "Aida" at L'Opera de Marseille.

In addition to his opera career, Todorovich regularly performs concerts with renowned symphony orchestras throughout Europe.
