Early Life and Club Career

Abdelhak Nouri was born on April 2, 1997, in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He began his football training with AFC Ajax's youth academy in 2004. In 2015, he was promoted to Jong Ajax, the club's reserve team, where he made 17 appearances in his debut season, scoring one goal. The following season, he divided his time between the youth team and training with the first team.

Debut and Tragic Event

Nouri made his official debut for Ajax's first team on October 29, 2016, in a league match against Excelsior. On July 8, 2017, during a pre-season friendly against Werder Bremen in Innsbruck, Austria, Nouri collapsed on the pitch. He was airlifted to a local hospital where he was induced into an artificial coma that evening.

Medical Diagnosis and Prognosis

On July 9, Ajax announced that Nouri had suffered cardiac arrhythmia and his life was not in danger. However, on July 13, it was revealed that he had suffered severe and irreversible brain damage. Tests showed that a significant portion of his brain was no longer functioning, and there was no chance of regaining higher brain functions.

International Career

Nouri represented the Netherlands at youth level. He played for the Netherlands under-19 team in two UEFA European Under-19 Championship tournaments.

Personal Life

Nouri's older brother, Mohammed, is also a footballer who plays for TEC in the Dutch third division.
