Abdul Karim al-Kabariti

Born in Jordan, Abdul Karim al-Kabariti pursued medical studies at the University of Damascus, graduating in 1949 with a degree in Otolaryngology.

Medical and Academic Career

From 1953 to 1956, al-Kabariti worked as an otolaryngologist in the Jordanian army hospital. In 1969, he became Jordan's Minister of Health, a position he held until 1971. Following this, he became a professor at the University of Jordan's Faculty of Medicine in 1973.

Minister of Education and Health

In 1976, al-Kabariti was appointed Minister of Education, serving in that role until 1979. He later returned to the health sector in 1993, serving as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defense in addition to his role as Prime Minister from 1993 to 1995.

Israel-Jordan Peace Treaty

Under al-Kabariti's leadership, Jordan signed the Israel-Jordan Peace Treaty in 1994. This historic agreement formally ended the state of war between the two countries and marked a significant milestone in the Middle East peace process.

Second Term as Prime Minister

In 1997, al-Kabariti was again appointed Prime Minister, holding the position until 1998. During his second term, he oversaw various initiatives, including economic reforms and measures to address poverty and social issues.

Legacy
