Early Life and Club Career

Abdoulay Konko, a French footballer who plays as a right-back, began his professional career in the youth academy of Genoa. He later moved to the youth teams of Martigues and Juventus before being loaned to Crotone for two seasons.

Serie A Debut

In 2005, Konko's half-transfer rights were acquired by Siena, where he made his Serie A debut against Chievo. He spent one year with the club, making 14 appearances and scoring one goal.

Genoa and Inter Milan Interest

In January 2007, Genoa purchased the remaining half of Konko's contract for 1 million euros from Juventus. Genoa then fully acquired his rights in the summer of 2007, giving half of Fernando Forestieri's rights to Siena. After an impressive season, he attracted interest from Inter Milan and Russian clubs CSKA Moscow and Lokomotiv Moscow.

Transfer to Sevilla

In the summer of 2008, Konko signed a five-year contract with Sevilla for 9 million euros. He was brought in as a replacement for Daniel Alves, who had moved to Barcelona.

Injury Setbacks and Successes

Konko's time at Sevilla was marred by a series of injuries, including a thigh muscle injury that sidelined him for several weeks in 2009. However, he also had some success, scoring his first goal for the club in a Champions League match against Rangers in September 2009. Sevilla won the Copa del Rey in 2010.

Return to Genoa and Transfer to Lazio

After the 2009-10 season, Genoa expressed interest in re-signing Konko, but the deal did not materialize. He returned to Genoa on loan in January 2011, playing 13 matches. On July 1, 2011, Konko signed a five-year contract with Lazio for 5 million euros, replacing Stephan Lichtsteiner who had left for Juventus. He helped Lazio win the Coppa Italia in 2013.

Personal Life

Abdoulay Konko was born in France to Senegalese father and Moroccan mother.
