Early Career and Rise to ProminenceKader Keïta(born August 6, 1981) is an Ivorian footballer who made his mark as a formidable striker and attacking midfielder. His professional career commenced with the prestigious Ivorian club Africa Sports, where he played a pivotal role in winning the 1999 Ivorian Championnat and the African Cup Winners' Cup.
International Success and Tunisian Adventure
In 2000, Keïta ventured into the Tunisian Premier League with Étoile du Sahel, but his stint there was brief. While on trial with Paris Saint-Germain in 2001, he failed to secure a contract, leading him to join Al-Ainin the United Arab Emirates. During his season with the Arabian club, he showcased his scoring prowess with 19 appearances and 6 goals.
Triumphs in Qatar
Keïta's next destination was Al-Saddin Qatar, where he spent three seasons. He celebrated victories in the 2003 Crown Prince Cup and Amir Cup, and the 2004 Qatar Stars League title. His performances caught the attention of European clubs, and in 2005, he was courted by Paris Saint-Germain, Marseille, and Lille.
European Journey
Keïta opted for Lilleand played for two seasons. He secured a bronze medal in the 2005-2006 Ligue 1 and graced the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Cup knockout stages. In 2007, Olympique Lyonnaisacquired his services for a record €18 million, making him their most expensive acquisition ever.
French Glory and Turkish Interlude
With Lyon, Keïta added the Ligue 1 and Coupe de France trophies to his growing collection. In 2009, he joined Galatasarayin Turkey, where he debuted with a match-winning performance against Gaziantepspor. He also played in the UEFA Europa League, scoring his maiden Galatasaray goal against Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Return to Qatar and International Career
Keïta returned to Al-Saddin 2010 for a fee exceeding €8 million. Since 2000, he has represented Côte d'Ivoireinternationally, participating in the 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cups, as well as the 2002 and 2008 Africa Cup of Nations. His highest achievement with the Elephants was a fourth-place finish in 2008.
