Early LifePrince Adalbert of Bavaria was born the youngest son of King Ludwig I of Bavaria and Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen. He was a member of the Bavarian royal family, known as the House of Wittelsbach.
Marriage
On August 25, 1856, Prince Adalbert married Infanta Amalia Filipina of Spain in Madrid. She was the daughter of Francisco de Paula of Spain and Luisa of Bourbon-Two Sicilies.

Prince Adalbert and Infanta Amalia Filipina had children together.Later Life
It was believed that after the death of his elder brother, King Otto of Greece, Prince Adalbert would inherit the throne. However, the succession rights actually passed to his older brother, Luitpold.
