Early Career and Formation of Adam and the Ants

While studying at the Royal College of Art, Adam Ant joined the group Bazooka Joe but soon left to form his own band, The B-Sides. Although the project did not achieve commercial success, it served as a catalyst for the formation of the famous band Adam and the Ants. The original lineup included Adam Ant as the lead vocalist, keyboardist, and guitarist, along with Andy Warren on bass guitar and Lester Square on guitar.

The Punk Rock Influence and Transition to Neoromanticism

Initially rooted in the punk rock genre, Adam and the Ants quickly garnered attention for their distinctive style. Known for their leather jackets and elaborate makeup, the band soon began to explore new musical territories and ventured into the realm of "neoromanticism." Their music embraced the ideology of escapism and showcased the elitism of the performers and the snobbery of their audience.
