Adragon De Mello, the Guinness World Records holder and the youngest college graduate, is an American prodigy who completed his university studies and obtained a degree in mathematics at the age of 11. This achievement in 1988 made Adragon the youngest college graduate in history, a record officially registered by representatives of the Guinness World Records.
Early Life and Talent
Adragon De Mello was born in 1976 to Agustin Eastwood De Mello, a flamenco musician and karate master. His father noticed his son's learning abilities at an early age and had high hopes for his future. Proudly, his father often promised that by the age of 16, Adragon would become a Nobel laureate. Adragon was indeed an incredibly gifted child. His father claimed that he spoke his first word, 'hello,' at six weeks old, and at the age of three, he could easily calculate cubic roots mentally. When Adragon was eight years old, he was admitted to Cabrillo Community College, and his father proudly envisioned him becoming at least a post-academic scholar. However, Adragon later admitted that he did not want to be an academic or receive awards at that time. All he wanted was to see other children and play with them. Meanwhile, his father actively promoted his remarkable son, taking him to television shows, making him perform calculations to the applause of the amazed audience, praising his talents, and being incredibly proud to have such an extraordinary child.
Later Life and Struggles
It is known that Adragon's parents eventually separated, and after a period of wandering through foster families, Adragon returned under the care of his mother. By 1988, Adragon, who had earned a scientific degree at the age of 11, suffered greatly from his popularity and genius. He desperately wanted to be an ordinary boy, not constantly chasing academic degrees and trying to live up to his father's expectations. Sadly, he was unable to achieve that. At the age of 11, young De Mello had already graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and the pressure he felt had reached its peak. He became the youngest college graduate in the world, but simultaneously, he struggled with the constant fear of not living up to expectations, making mistakes, or losing his brilliance. Nevertheless, Adragon De Mello was included in the Guinness Book of World Records as the youngest college graduate.
Later Years
This record was later broken by 10-year-old Michael Kearney. Unfortunately, Adragon did not have a particularly brilliant career. He did not become an academic or a Nobel laureate. It is known that he lost his job several times, and in 2003, he was working at 'The Home Depot.' In 2001, his father attempted suicide, and he passed away in 2003.
