Biography of Adrian Fenty
Adrian Fenty was born on December 7, 1970, in Washington, D.C. He is a native Washingtonian, with his mother being white and his father being black. His parents own a sports shoe store in the bohemian neighborhood of Adams Morgan.

Political Career
Fenty began his political career working in the office of Eleanor Holmes Norton, the representative for the District of Columbia in the U.S. Congress, as well as for Congressman Joseph Kennedy and Senator Howard Metzenbaum. He gained experience on Capitol Hill before entering local politics by working for the 16th Street Neighborhood Association.

In 2000, Fenty became the youngest member of the city council and was re-elected in 2004. A year later, he entered the race for mayor of Washington, D.C. as the official candidate of the Democratic Party. Given the traditional balance of power in the city, his victory in the November elections was almost guaranteed.

Personal Life
Adrian Fenty is married to Michelle, and they have two six-year-old twin sons named Matthew and Andrew.
