Afton Smith is an actress known for her work in both comedy and drama genres. She was born on December 3, 1967, in Northport, Long Island, New York, USA. Afton is a mother of three children and is divorced from actor Brendan Fraser, although they maintain close and friendly relations.

Early Career

In 1987, Afton made her film debut in "Less Than Zero," a drama about wealthy Los Angeles teenagers based on the novel by Bret Easton Ellis.

Breakthrough Roles

In 1991, Afton achieved a breakthrough role as Leona Threadgoode in "Fried Green Tomatoes," a film adaptation of Fannie Flagg's novel "Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe." In the same year, she also appeared in the romantic fantasy "Pyrates," portraying one-half of a passionate couple whose love-making produces actual sparks.

Continued Success

Afton's career continued to flourish, and in 1994, she starred as Janine in the youth comedy "Reality Bites." Directed by renowned comedian Ben Stiller, the film explored the everyday lives of the so-called "Generation X" during the 90s. Afton acted alongside stars Winona Ryder and Ethan Hawke.
