Early Career and Dutch and Belgian Trials

Uzbek footballer Islom Ibragimov began his professional career in 1995 with Tashkent-based club Pakhtakor. As a defender, he played two matches in the Uzbek Championship that season, increasing his appearances to five the following year.

Return to Pakhtakor and International Debut

In 1997, Ibragimov joined Andijan, where he played 16 games and scored twice. A year later, he returned to Pakhtakor but did not see any playing time. He subsequently went on trials with Dutch club Willem II and Belgian club Antwerp. However, neither club was willing to meet Pakhtakor's transfer demands.

Travelling the Uzbek League

Upon returning to Uzbekistan, Ibragimov did not play a single match for Navbahor in 1999. He rejoined Pakhtakor in 2000 and made 25 appearances, scoring two goals. Beginning the 2001 season with Akademija, Ibragimov played 16 matches and scored three goals before transferring to Kuban in August. He helped the team finish third in the Russian First Division that season.

Stint in Russia and Return to Andijan

Ibragimov played four matches for Lokomotiv Chita in 2002 before sustaining an injury. He returned to Uzbekistan in 2003 and rejoined Andijan, appearing in 29 games and scoring two goals.

Success with Neftchi

Ibragimov started the 2004 season with Andijan but joined Neftchi in August. He played 12 matches, scoring once, and helped the team become Uzbek Vice-Champions. The following year, he contributed one goal in 22 appearances and reached the Uzbek Cup final with Neftchi.

Later Career and Captaincy

Ibragimov moved to Tashkent's Lokomotiv in 2006 and then to Khorezm in 2009, where he became team captain.

International Career

Ibragimov made his international debut for Uzbekistan on November 2, 1997, as a substitute against the UAE. His second and final appearance for the national team came in a friendly against Oman on August 20, 2008.
