Childhood and Education
Agnès Pannier-Runacher was born in Paris, France, on June 19, 1974. She pursued higher education at the prestigious Institut d'Études Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po) and the École Nationale d'Administration (ENA). Additionally, Pannier-Runacher holds a degree from HEC Paris Business School.
Career in Public Service
In 2000, Pannier-Runacher joined the French Ministry of Finance as a financial inspector. From 2003 to 2006, she served as the Secretary of the Director-General of the Assistance Publique-Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP) hospital network. Subsequently, she worked as Deputy Director for Finance and Strategy at the state-owned Groupe Caisse des Dépôts from 2006 to 2008.
Creation of Bpifrance and Industry Experience
In late 2008, Pannier-Runacher played a key role in establishing the French Strategic Investment Fund, which was later renamed Bpifrance, the State Investment Bank. Between 2011 and 2013, she became the Research and Development Director at Faurecia Interior Systems. From 2013 to 2018, she served as Deputy General Manager of Compagnie des Alpes, a mountain resort and leisure facilities operator.
Board Memberships and Civic Engagement
Pannier-Runacher has held various board memberships, including the Fondation Grameen Crédit Agricole, the Observatoire de l'Immatériel think tank, and the advisory board of the Ashoka France NGO. She was also recognized as a young leader by the France China Foundation in 2017.
Political Career
In October 2018, Pannier-Runacher was appointed as Secretary of State for the Economy and Finance in the second Philippe government. She later became Minister Delegate for Industry in the new Castex government on July 6, 2020. On May 20, 2022, she was appointed Minister for Energy Transformation in the Borne government.
