Early Life and Education
Alla Nemerenco was born on August 21, 1959, in Solonetz village, Soroca district, Moldavian SSR. She graduated from high school in Falesti town. In 1976, she enrolled in the Faculty of Medicine at the Chisinau State Medical Institute, graduating in 1982.
From 2003 to 2007, Nemerenco studied for a doctorate at the Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, graduating with a Master's degree in social medicine and management.
Medical Career
Between 1982 and 1985, Nemerenco worked as a physician at the Republican Clinical Hospital, then at Municipal Polyclinic No. 8 (now Family Health Center No. 7), and Municipal Hospital No. 2.
Leadership Roles
University ClinicNemerenco served as Director of the Primary Health Care University Clinic from 2002 to 2012 and again from 2015 to 2016.
Municipal Health Administration
In 1995, she became Head of the Therapeutic Department, followed by Deputy Chief Physician of the Center Sector Territorial Medical Association (AMT Centru) in 1998.
Public Health Management
Nemerenco joined the World Health Organization (WHO) country office as a project manager in 2012. In 2017, she became a consultant for the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute and the German consulting company GFA Consulting Group.
Political Career
In 2015, Nemerenco was elected to the Chisinau Municipal Council, serving as Chair of the Social Protection, Health, Education, Culture, Mass Media, and Inter-Ethnic Relations Commission.
Minister of Health
On June 8, 2019, she became Minister of Health, Labor, and Social Protection in the Sandu government. Following the parliament's vote of no confidence in the government, she was appointed as an adviser to President Maia Sandu on healthcare in December 2020.
On August 6, 2021, Nemerenco was confirmed as Minister of Health in the Gavrilita government.
Research and Publications
Nemerenco has authored over 50 articles and scientific papers published internationally, including 11 textbooks, handbooks, and guidelines.
