Early Life and Education
Yerzhan Maximwas born to a musical family in Kazakhstan. His mother was a pianist, and his father a cellist. His grandfather was the noted composer Ahmed Zhubanow, and his grand-aunt was the composer Gaziza Zhubanowa.
Maxim began his musical studies at the Kazakhstan Republican Music College, where he studied violin. He then continued his education at the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory, where he majored in opera and symphony conducting, as well as violin. Subsequently, he pursued conducting studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, under Uroš Lajovic.
Conducting Career
2003-2007: Principal Conductor of the Astana Symphony Orchestra and General Music Director of Meiningen
Maxim's professional conducting career began with his appointment as principal conductor of the Astana Symphony Orchestra from 2003 to 2007. Concurrently, he served as General Music Director of Meiningen from 2004 to 2007.
2007-Present: International Engagements
Since 2007, Maxim has held various prestigious positions around the globe. He has been the Chief Conductor of the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra since 2007, and also of the Netherlands' Brabant Orchestra since 2008. In 2009, he became the Principal Conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland. Additionally, he is a guest conductor of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia.
Recognition and Awards
Awards and HonorsMaxim has won several prestigious awards, including the Lovro von Matačić International Conducting Competition in Zagreb in 1999.
Accolades and Patronage
Maxim holds the title of Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He has received patronage from renowned conductor Yuri Temirkanov.
