Early Life and Education
Born in Mainz, Germany, the future musician began his studies in Catholic church music at institutions in Mainz, Saarbrücken, and Freiburg. After completing these studies, he earned the prestigious qualification of "A-Kirchenmusiker."
Conducting and Choral Work
The musician continued his education in choral and orchestral conducting under renowned professors Wolfram Wennerth, Wolfgang Schäfer, and Hans Michael Beuerle. He further honed his skills through master classes and seminars with renowned conductors John Eliot Gardiner and Uwe Gronostay.
Collaborations with Renowned Ensembles
As an assistant to conductor Helmut Rilling, the musician has collaborated with prestigious European ensembles, including the Gächinger Kantorei, Bach Collegium Stuttgart, Athens Radio Choir and Orchestra, Madrid Radio Choir, Kraków Bach Academy Choir, and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
Educator and Mentor
Since 1999, the musician has been the artistic director of the Chorus of the Bach Week in Stuttgart, where he has taught as a lecturer alongside Helmut Rilling, Masaaki Suzuki, and Georg Christoph Biller. He has also been involved in organizing musical events at the Burg Rothenfels Christian Conference Center and conducting the Bach Choir Munich at the opening of the Pollença Festival in Mallorca.
Founding the Bach Academy in Krasnoyarsk
In 2001, the musician established the International Bach Academy in Krasnoyarsk, Russia. This collaboration between Germany and Russia has brought renowned German vocalists, instrumentalists, and choir members to Krasnoyarsk, where they lead workshops, lectures, and public concerts alongside local musicians and students.
Mainz Figural Choir and Academic Appointments
In 1979, the musician founded the Mainz Figural Choir, which he continues to direct today. Since 1985, he has held a teaching position at the Episcopal Institute of Church Music in Speyer. Additionally, he taught conducting and choral methods at the Saar University of Music in Saarbrücken from 1995 to 1996.
