Biography of Alan Faena
Alan Faena is an Argentine entrepreneur, developer, owner of a hotel chain, and the founder and president of the 'Faena Group'. Born into a family of successful textile manufacturers, Alan established his first venture, the fashion label 'Via Vai', in 1985. Eleven years later, in 1996, he sold his company. While Alan later shifted his focus from design to real estate, his sense of taste and style continued to manifest in his new creations.
The Faena District
In 2000, Alan initiated a unique project by reaching out to French designer Philippe Starck. He wanted to develop a new complex of buildings on the abandoned docks of Buenos Aires. The plan included residential buildings, cultural institutions, and more. With the support of another entrepreneur, Len Blavatnik, they created the first 'Faena District'. The project turned out to be highly successful, and there are rumors that Alan plans to replicate it in Miami.
The Faena Hotel
The first part of the new district, the 'Faena Hotel', opened in 2004. In 2005, after successful deals, work began on residential complexes. One of them, the 'Faena Aleph Residences', became the first Latin American project by the renowned 'Foster and Partners' group. In September 2011, the 'Faena Arts Center' opened in the district, showcasing a variety of exhibitions. The residential sector of the district was completed in 2012.
Expansion to Miami
Alan Faena started working on projects in Miami in 2013, and everything is going according to plan so far. It is anticipated that he will also build a new hotel (based on the famous 'Saxony Hotel'), a cultural center, a market, and a residential center in Miami. For the development of the new district, Faena has already secured the support of the renowned local landscape design firm, Raymond Jungles.
