The Mother of Scotland's Heaviest Infants
Record-Breaking TwinsDr. Alannah Murray and her husband, Paul, welcomed the "heaviest set of twins ever born in Scotland," tipping the scales at almost 7.7 kg combined—the weight of a six-month-old baby. Little did Alannah know that her fraternal twins, Troy and Caius, would become record-holders.
The boys, born via cesarean section on November 4, 2015, at Edinburgh's Royal Infirmary, weighed 3.97 kg and 3.71 kg respectively, astonishing the attending midwives. They spent a week in the hospital before Alannah and Paul could take them home.
Official Confirmation Pending
Alannah eagerly awaits official confirmation of her family's record-breaking achievement. "I have been trying to find out if my babies were the heaviest twins born," she said. "The General Register Office for Scotland is currently looking into it for us. Hopefully, we will have confirmation later this week."
Overdue Surprise
Alannah suspected her babies might be above average weight (2.27 kg on average) based on her noticeably large belly during pregnancy. However, she had no idea how large they truly were. "The scans said they were measuring great," she said. "The midwives said they were doing really well."

Genetics at PlayBoth Alannah and Paul have a history of twins in their families, which may partially explain the couple's record-breaking delivery. "My father had a twin, and my mother's side of the family has twins as well," said Alannah. "I think there are twins on Paul's side of the family too."
Outgrown Newborn Clothes
Alannah had wisely refrained from buying her sons any clothes before their birth, as she wasn't sure how big they would be. "They have quite big feet and quite big hands," she said. "I hadn't bought anything because I didn't want to buy it and then find out they don't fit into it."
"They definitely don't fit into newborn clothes at all."
Delighted ParentsPaul, a 39-year-old personal trainer, expressed his joy over the couple's growing brood. "We have a lovely little girl, and now we have the boys, so it's a full house," he said.
"Any man will be happy when it's a boy, but boys are known to have a bit more energy. We will try to keep them occupied as much as possible. They will do a lot of sports, which will be good for them."
