Biography of Albert Finney

Albert Finney was born in Sanford, Manchester, United Kingdom. He received a scholarship at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and made his professional stage debut in 1956, playing the role of Brutus in the production of "Julius Caesar".

Early Career

Charles Laughton took him to Stratford-upon-Avon, where Finney impressed audiences with his interpretation of Shakespearean characters. Particularly, Albert shocked the public by replacing Laurence Olivier in the performance of "Coriolanus". Director Tony Richardson almost immediately offered him a role in the film "The Entertainer", where Albert had to play the son of Sir Laurence.

Rise to International Fame

In the film "Saturday Night and Sunday Morning", once again directed by Tony Richardson, Albert was given the lead role. Three years later, in 1963, Albert gained international fame and improved his financial position by starring in the title role in the film "Tom Jones". Now he could choose the projects he wanted to work on, and he has never made a wrong choice in his career.
