The Creation of an Iconic Fragrance

In 1937, a chance encounter between John F. Kennedy and a young French perfumer named Albert Fouquet sparked the creation of an unforgettable fragrance. Fouquet, the son of a Parisian aristocrat, experimented with scents in his mansion, impressing his friends with his exquisite creations.

The Birth of "Eight & Bob"

Fouquet shared a sample of his captivating cologne with Kennedy, who was vacationing on the French Riviera. Upon returning to the United States, Kennedy requested eight additional bottles, one for his brother Bob. Fouquet carefully selected elegant bottles from a Parisian pharmacy and labeled them "Eight & Bob" in honor of his newfound American acquaintance.

Hollywood's Endorsement

Through the connections of Kennedy's father, Hollywood stars soon discovered "Eight & Bob." Its popularity skyrocketed as celebrities clamored for the unique French scent. Tragically, Fouquet met an untimely end in 1939, leaving his butler, Philippe, the task of fulfilling the overwhelming demand.

Wartime Concealment

With the onset of World War II, Philippe hid the remaining bottles within books, ingeniously carving out space to protect them from Nazi plunderers. After the war, the production of "Eight & Bob" ceased, and its existence faded into obscurity.

Modern Revival

In recent years, Philippe's family unearthed the formula for "Eight & Bob." In honor of the 50th anniversary of President Kennedy's assassination, they relaunched the iconic fragrance in a limited-edition trial run in 2012. The composition of the scent remains a closely guarded secret, known only to the family and featuring a rare Chilean plant harvested during a specific month of the year.

Unisex Appeal and Enduring Legacy

Described by perfume connoisseurs as unisex, "Eight & Bob" continues to captivate with its timeless appeal. Its unique packaging, reminiscent of the books in which Philippe once concealed it, adds to its enigmatic allure.

An Intriguing Enigma

While the connection between "Eight & Bob" and the Kennedy family remains uncertain, the tale of its creation and subsequent rediscovery is a captivating blend of aristocracy, intrigue, and artistic inspiration.
