Biography of Alexander Klubov

Alexander Fedorovich Klubov was born in a poor peasant family. He was of Russian nationality. In 1934, he moved to Leningrad and joined the school of the "Bolshevik" plant. He worked as a turner in the tool shop of this plant for some time, and from 1936, he worked at the Leningrad Carburetor Plant. In 1939, Klubov was enrolled as a cadet in an aviation school. During the Great Patriotic War, he actively participated in battles against enemies on the Southern, 1st, 2nd, and 4th Ukrainian fronts. He served as a flight leader and squadron commander. Klubov completed 457 combat missions, participated in 95 air battles, personally shot down 31 enemy planes, and 19 in group. On November 13, 1944, at one of the front-line airfields, the life of the brave fighter pilot was cut short by death. For exemplary execution of combat missions and the courage and heroism shown during them, Alexander Fedorovich Klubov was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on April 13, 1944. On June 27, 1945, he was posthumously awarded the second "Gold Star" medal. He was also awarded many orders and medals. Klubov took part in battles over the Kuban, in the skies of Ukraine, and over Poland. He was known for his daring and attacking style in aerial combat, and his victories contributed to the success of the Soviet forces.
