Early Life and Education

Alena Schillerová was born on March 18, 1964, in Brno, Czechoslovakia (now eastern Czech Republic). She graduated from the Faculty of Law at Jan Evangelista Purkyně University (now Masaryk University) in 1986. In 2000, she earned a doctorate in administrative and agro-cooperative law from the same university.

Career in the Tax Administration

From 1991 to 2012, Schillerová worked in the Tax Administration in the Brno-suburban district. During this time, she held various positions, including:

- Legal Advisor (1991-1994)

- Head of the Legal Department (1994)
- Deputy Director (1995-2006)
- Director (2006-2012)
Transition to the Government

In 2013, Schillerová became Deputy Director of the Regional Tax Office of the South Moravian Region. In 2015, she was appointed Director of the Tax Department of the General Financial Directorate.

Role in the Finance Ministry

In 2016, Schillerová was appointed Deputy Minister of Finance for Taxes and Customs in the government of Bohuslav Sobotka. In 2017, she became Minister of Finance in the government of Andrej Babiš. She held this position until December 17, 2021.

On April 30, 2019, Schillerová was additionally appointed Deputy Prime Minister.
