Early Life and Career
Alexander Dubinsky was born in Kyiv, Ukraine, into a Jewish family. After completing secondary school, he enrolled in the Technical College of the Tax Academy. He subsequently pursued two higher education degrees: one in accounting and auditing from the Institute of Food Technologies, and another in electrical engineering from the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
From the age of 18, Dubinsky worked at a radio market in Kyiv. By 23, he had established several stalls. In 2004, he joined the Economic News newspaper, where he became a special correspondent within a year. He left the market completely at 25.
In 2009, Dubinsky became the editor-in-chief of the weekly magazine Kyiv Weekly, published by Evolution Media. Concurrently, he worked as a chronicler on the talk show "Shuster Live."
Journalism and Activism
Dubinsky received numerous awards for his journalistic work between 2007 and 2009, including recognition as Ukraine's best financial-economic journalist. In 2010, he joined the 1+1 TV channel as an editor and creative producer, contributing to various projects.
In 2013, Dubinsky was accused of spreading false information against the Euromaidan protests by Bihus.Info. In 2014, he became the host of the popular program "Groshi" (Money), which won multiple TeleTriumph awards.
Political Career
In the 2019 snap parliamentary elections, Dubinsky ran as a candidate for the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in constituency 94 (Obukhiv and Vasylkiv districts of the Kyiv region). He declared his intention to prevent Ihor Kononenko, a business partner of former President Poroshenko, from entering parliament.
Dubinsky was nominated by the Servant of the People party and emerged victorious in his constituency, receiving 40.94% of the vote. He became a member of the Servant of the People party and its Kyiv regional organization.
Sanctions and Controversies
On January 11, 2021, the United States imposed sanctions on Dubinsky and six other Ukrainian citizens, alleging their ties to Andrii Derkach, who was accused of Russian election interference. Dubinsky denied these accusations.
On January 28, 2021, YouTube deleted Dubinsky's channel due to the sanctions. On February 2, 2021, he was expelled from the Servant of the People faction in parliament.

Dubinsky is divorced from Lesia Tsybko and has no children.Criminal Investigations
In early 2018, National Security and Defense Council member Oleh Hladkovsky requested that the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) open a case against Dubinsky for alleged treason based on documents presented on the "Groshi" program claiming Hladkovsky was conducting business in Russia. However, the SBU opened a case for false reporting of a threat to citizen security.
In November 2023, Dubinsky was arrested for suspected treason. The SBU accused him of working for Russia's GRU intelligence agency since at least 2019 under the codename "Buratino." Dubinsky claimed that his arrest was politically motivated.
