Major General and Hero of Izmail
In 1754, Major General Count Vasily Vasilyevich Gudovich was born into the nobility of Chernigov Governorate. His brother, Count Ivan Vasilyevich Gudovich, rose to the rank of General Field Marshal and served on the State Council.
Military Career
Gudovich received his education at the Corps des Pages and entered military service in 1770. He distinguished himself in the Russo-Turkish War of 1787-1792, earning a promotion to Colonel of the Kiev Carabinier Regiment in 1790.
Order of St. George
On March 25, 1791, Gudovich was honored with the Order of St. George, 4th Class, for his exceptional valor. He was included in the Cavalier Lists of Sudravski (No. 422) and Grigorovich-Stepanov (No. 809).
Brigadiership and Retirement
In 1795, Gudovich was promoted to Brigadier and retired in 1796 with the rank of Major General. He passed away in 1806.
Legacy
Gudovich left a lasting legacy as the last private owner of the Vvedenskoye estate, which he extensively renovated. He played a significant role as the Governor of Kutaisi Governorate in 1916-1917.
