Alexander Fyodorovich Nikiforov
Early Life and EducationAlexander Fyodorovich Nikiforov was born into a noble family in the Kiev province. His father, Fyodor Nikolaevich, was a founding member of the Kiev Club of Russian Nationalists and a member of the Kiev City Duma. Nikiforov attended the Kiev Cadet Corps and the Forestry Institute, graduating with a degree in forestry.
Career in Forestry
After graduating, Nikiforov became a member of the Professional Union of Foresters. From 1914 to 1915, he served as the head and senior forestry inspector of the Kiev Forestry Office. In 1915-1918, he worked as deputy chairman or inspector of the Fuel Commission in Kiev.
Role in the Hetman Government
During the Hetman government, Nikiforov was appointed as vice-director of the Forestry Department. In 1919, he joined the College of Communal Economy, focusing on supplying Kiev with energy resources.
Activities in the Kiev Club of Russian Nationalists
Nikiforov was an active member of the Kiev Club of Russian Nationalists and served as its secretary from 1915. At a meeting on April 25, 1915, he expressed his views on Russia's strategic interests. He believed that the war could only end quickly if Russia's demands on its enemies were minimized. He advocated for the reunification of the Rus', the acquisition of the mouth of the Neman River, Constantinople, the straits, and a portion of the contribution.
Arrest and Execution
Nikiforov was arrested along with other members of the Kiev Club of Russian Nationalists. The Cheka (secret police) sought evidence to convict him, including his financial status. However, it was determined that the presence of eight people living in his four-room apartment was due to the generous earnings he had accumulated as a forester rather than excessive wealth.
Unable to find concrete evidence, investigator Lazurina resorted to the following resolution: "Nikiforov Alexander Fyodorovich, a nobleman, graduated from the cadet corps. He was fortunate to live well under Nicholas II. Certainly a counter-revolutionary." As a result, Nikiforov, along with other members of the Kiev Club of Russian Nationalists, was executed.
