Alexander Savchuk was an industrialist, the President of PJSC "Azovmash", the President of the basketball club "Azovmash" in Mariupol, a member of the Ukrainian Parliament from the Party of Regions, and the founder of the charity foundation "Azovmash".

Early Life and Education:
Born on August 6, 1954, in Bespolie, Sumy Oblast, Alexander Savchuk was the son of Vladimir Maximovich Savchuk and Taisiya Ivanovna Shpignova. His parents were educators, and they later moved from Belopole to Mariupol. His father was a candidate of philosophical sciences and an associate professor at the Zhdanov Metallurgical Institute, while his mother was a teacher and a deputy principal at School No. 54 in Mariupol.

Career:
In 1971, Savchuk enrolled in the Zhdanov Metallurgical Institute and graduated in 1976 with a degree in "Welding Equipment and Technology." From 1976 to 1978, he worked as a design engineer at the Zhdanov Mechanical Plant. Savchuk held his own position in both professional and personal situations.

From 1979 to 1991, he was a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. He also served in the Soviet Army from 1980 to 1982. In 1978-1980, Savchuk worked in the Komsomol, and from 1982 to 1986, he worked in party bodies. In 1986, he began working in the general engineering production departments of "PO Azovmash" as the deputy head of workshop No. 23 and the head of workshop No. 27. In November 1990, he was appointed as the director of the general engineering production association, and in October 1991, he became the director of the state firm "Azovobshchemash." In 1997, with the company's privatization, he became the Chairman of the Board and General Director of the Open Joint Stock Company "Azovobshchemash."

Political Career:
In 2006, Alexander Savchuk was included in the electoral list of the Party of Regions for parliamentary elections and was elected as a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, where he served as the Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Transport and Communication. In 2007, he was re-elected to the Verkhovna Rada on the Party of Regions' list and became a member of the Committee on Transport and Communication.

Business Ventures:
In 2000, Savchuk became the head of the PJSC "Azovmash," which united PJSC "Azov" (PJSC "MZTM"), "Azovobshchemash," GSKTI, MTZ, and became its general director. In 2006, he became the President of PJSC "Azovmash" due to his election to the Verkhovna Rada. In 2010, he also became the President of "Azovmashinvest Holding." The "Azovmashinvest Holding" is one of the largest machine-building complexes in Ukraine and is known worldwide as a supplier of railway freight cars and platforms, fueling vehicles, transporters, metallurgical, mining, and crane equipment, among other products. The group includes PJSC "Azovmash," PJSC "Azovobshchemash," PJSC "Mariupol Heavy Machine-Building Plant," PJSC "Mariupol Thermal Plant," PJSC "Main Specialized Design and Technological Institute," CJSC "Azovobshchemash Trading House," LLC "Main Specialized Design Bureau of Wagon Building named after V.M. Bubnov," PJSC "Poltavakhimmash," and CJSC "AzovElektroSteel." After the restructuring in 2011, PJSC "Azovmash" became PJSC "Azovmash," employing more than 15,000 people. Vagon building, mining and ore, crane, and metallurgical equipment manufacturing, as well as refueling equipment and armored vehicles, are the main areas of activity.

Philanthropy and Sports:
In 2003, Savchuk initiated the creation of a charitable foundation to support the less fortunate citizens of Mariupol. In 2007, he established the Mariupol City Charitable Foundation "Azovmash." The foundation has provided assistance to various organizations, including the construction of a cathedral, veteran organizations, the children's home "Solnyshko," boarding school No. 2, and the Red Cross.

Savchuk was also actively involved in sports. Since 1998, he has been the President of the wrestling club "Azovmash," which is part of the "Azovmash" sports club. The club has produced Olympic champions, world and European champions, winners of the World Cup, and multiple national champions. The club also promotes Paralympic and disabled sports.

Personal Life:
Alexander Savchuk's father, Vladimir Maximovich Savchuk, was an educator who passed away in 1997. He was also a disabled veteran of the Great Patriotic War. His mother, Taisiya Ivanovna Shpignova, is a pensioner. Savchuk is married to Svetlana Savelyevna Savchuk, and they have a daughter named Taisiya Alexandrovna Savchuk-Polishchuk. They also have two grandchildren, Alexander and Victor.

Awards and Recognition:
Alexander Savchuk was a recipient of the "Order of Merit" (1997, 2002, 2004), the "Honored Machine Builder of Ukraine" (1997), and was named an "Honorary Citizen of Mariupol" (2006). He was awarded the orders of the Russian Orthodox Church, the "St. Prince Vladimir" of the 2nd degree and the "St. Sergius of Radonezh" of the 2nd degree. Savchuk was also honored with the Golden Star "Public Recognition and Greatness" in the category of "Significant Contribution to the Development of the Machine-Building Complex of Ukraine" by the International Academic Rating of Popularity and Quality "Golden Fortune" (2002). He also received the Order of the Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir. Savchuk is a laureate of the awards "Man of the Year," "Golden Scythian," "Mariupol Citizen of the Year," and others. He holds a Doctor of Economic Sciences degree, is a professor, and heads the Department of Economic Theory, Marketing, and Management at Mariupol State University. He is also a member of the Academic Council of Pryazovsky State Technical University. Savchuk has authored three monographs and 50 scientific articles.
