Biography of Alexander Shavrin

Alexander Valeryevich Shavrin is a renowned Russian actor who has worked in both theater and film. Born on December 16, 1960, Shavrin has more than 60 works to his name. He is best known for his roles in popular TV series such as "Kitchen," "Poor Nastya," "Sklifosovsky," "Between Us Girls," "Children of Arbat," and "March of Turtskogo."

Childhood and Youth

Alexander Shavrin was born in a family of creative intellectuals. Both of his parents were actors, with his mother, Elena Paevskaya, being a People's Artist of the RSFSR. His father, Valery Shavrin, was a theater director and also received the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR. Alexander grew up in a theater environment, spending his childhood in various cities due to his parents' work. When he turned 10, his family moved to Sevastopol, where his father was invited to work at the Sevastopol Drama Theater. Inspired by his parents, Alexander decided to follow in their footsteps.

Theater Career

After graduating from school, Shavrin moved to Moscow and enrolled in the Shchukin Theater School. In 1982, he started his professional career at the Vladimir Mayakovsky Theater. He played numerous significant roles in productions such as "The Plague Affects Your Houses," "The Karamazovs," "Don Juan's Amusements," "Comedy of the Prince of Denmark," and "The Life of Klim Samgin." Shavrin devoted most of his career to the Mayakovsky Theater, working there from 1982 to 2004 and then from 2011 to 2017. During the breaks, he also collaborated with the "Dom" Theater in St. Petersburg.

Film Career

Shavrin made his film debut in 1981 with a small role in the movie "Tropinins." He gained recognition as an actor after his performance as Bluebeard in the 1984 film "Tales of the Old Wizard" based on the works of Charles Perrault. In the 1990s, he faced challenges in the Russian film industry, with the roles being less significant. However, in the early 2000s, his film career gained momentum with projects such as the popular TV series "Simple Truths." He also appeared in series like "March of Turtskogo" and "Impostors." In 2001, Shavrin was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, primarily for his notable theater performances. Since then, he has continued to work in both theater and film, accumulating numerous roles in his filmography.

Personal Life

In his youth, Shavrin focused more on his acting career than his personal life. However, he met actress Anna Ardova in his forties, and they got married in 1997. They have two children together, a daughter named Sonya and a son named Anton. The couple maintained a happy marriage for 20 years, despite their divorce in 2017. Shavrin struggled with depression after the divorce, and his health deteriorated. He was diagnosed with cancer and sought treatment in Israel. Unfortunately, Alexander Shavrin passed away on December 30, 2017.
