Early Life and Education

Oleksandr Starukh was born in Ukraine and graduated from Zaporizhzhya State University in 1995 with a degree in History. He continued his studies, obtaining a Candidate of Historical Sciences degree in 1998 and becoming an Associate Professor in 2003. He is currently a doctoral candidate at the Institute of Political and Ethnonational Studies named after I. F. Kuras of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

Professional Career

Starukh's professional career began in September 1990 when he enrolled as a student at Zaporizhzhya State University. During this time, he also served as a junior research assistant and research assistant at the Khortytsia National Reserve from December 1994 to October 1995.

After completing his graduate studies, Starukh worked at Zaporizhzhya State University from August 1998 to September 2004 as a senior lecturer, deputy dean for educational work, acting associate professor, and associate professor.

From September 2004 to April 2005, he was a doctoral student at the M. S. Hrushevsky Institute of Ukrainian Archaeography and Source Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. He then held various positions in the Department of Regional Policy of the Secretariat of the President of Ukraine from April 2005 to September 2007.

Political Career

Starukh is a member of the political council of the All-Ukrainian Union "Fatherland." He has served as the head of the Zaporizhzhya regional organization of "Fatherland" and as a deputy of the Zaporizhzhya Regional Council. He was also a candidate for the Ukrainian parliamentary elections.

Government Role

From May 30 to September 25, 2008, Starukh served as acting head of the Zaporizhzhya Regional State Administration. He was officially appointed as Chairman of the Zaporizhzhya Regional State Administration on September 25, 2008, a position he held until March 18, 2010. He was reappointed to this role on December 18, 2020.

Awards and Recognitions

Starukh has received various awards and recognitions, including the Order of Merit, 3rd Class, for his contributions to state building, long-standing conscientious work, and high professionalism. He holds the rank of State Servant of the 1st Rank.
