Biography of Veniamin Petukhov

Veniamin Petukhov was born on October 3, 1946, in Kirovsk, Leningrad Oblast. He graduated from the Leningrad Law Faculty of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR with a degree in Law in 1977. Petukhov began his career in the Ministry of Internal Affairs in 1969 and started as a patrol inspector. Throughout his career, he held various positions such as a criminal investigation officer, chief of the juvenile affairs inspection, and deputy chief for operational work.

From 1985 to 1987, Petukhov served in Afghanistan. In 1988, he became the chief of the Kirovsk District Department of Internal Affairs in Leningrad Oblast. From 1992 to 1996, he worked as the deputy chief of the Main Department of Internal Affairs for St. Petersburg and Leningrad Oblast, overseeing the affairs of Leningrad Oblast. From 1996 to 1999, Petukhov served as the chief of the faculty at the St. Petersburg Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

In 1999, he was appointed as the deputy chief and later the chief of the Main Department of Internal Affairs for St. Petersburg and Leningrad Oblast. Petukhov achieved the rank of Major General of the Police Force and is a Docent, as well as the author of several scientific works. He has been awarded the Order of the Red Star, nine medals, the honorary mark "Honored Employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation," and the Order "For Bravery" of the Republic of Afghanistan. Petukhov also holds the title "Honored Lawyer of the Russian Federation" and holds a Candidate of Legal Sciences degree.

He is married and has three daughters.
