Early Life and Education

Alexander Teves was born in Phoenix, Arizona in 1988. He attended the University of Arizona, where he studied psychology. Teves was an active member of the university community, volunteering as a mentor to troubled children.

The Aurora Shooting

On July 20, 2012, Teves and Lindgren attended a midnight screening of "The Dark Knight Rises" in Aurora. During the film, James Eagan Holmes entered the theater and opened fire. Teves immediately reacted, pushing Lindgren and others to the ground and shielding her with his own body.

Heroic Sacrifice

Teves was shot multiple times and succumbed to his wounds before paramedics arrived. His selfless act saved Lindgren's life. Teves's heroism was praised by President Barack Obama, who called him "a true American hero."

Inspiration and Legacy

Teves's story became a symbol of the courage and selflessness that can exist even in the face of tragedy. Three other young men also lost their lives in Aurora while protecting their loved ones. Teves's sacrifice serves as a reminder that heroism is not just about wearing a badge or wielding a weapon, but about the willingness to put the lives of others before one's own.
