Alexander Tikhonov
Alexander Tikhonov is a Russian sociologist, Doctor of Sociology, and professor. He is one of the founders of management sociology in Russia and currently serves as the Head of the Center for Management Sociology and Social Technologies at the Institute of Sociology of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Tikhonov is a member of the editorial board of the "Sociological Journal" and the first Vice President of the Russian Society of Sociologists (ROS) for coordinating research projects. He is also the Head of the Research Committee of ROS on Management Sociology and Organizations and a member of the Board of the Community of Professional Sociologists.
Biography
Alexander Vasilyevich Tikhonov was born on October 21, 1939, in Satanov, Khmelnytskyi Oblast, on the territory of Soviet Ukraine. He began his research career in sociology in 1963 as a staff member of the Interinstitutional Sociology Laboratory and later became the Head of the Industrial Sociology Department at the Tatneft production association in 1969. The sociological division established by Alexander Vasilyevich in Tatneft continues its work to this day. In 1974, he worked as the head of the Problem Research Laboratory at the Higher Trade Union School of Culture.
From 1967 to 1992, Tikhonov was the head of the Department of Management Sociology at the Academy of Public Administration and held administrative positions such as Deputy Chairman of the Leningrad City Executive Committee for Social Policy and Deputy Mayor of St. Petersburg. In 1992, he became the Vice Rector of St. Petersburg State University (SPbGU) and later worked as the Director of the Sociology Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences in St. Petersburg.
In 2001, Tikhonov defended his dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Sociology at the Sociology Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Since 2002, he has been a professor. Since 2005, he has been working at the Institute of Sociology of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow, leading the Center for Management Sociology and Social Technologies.
Professional Work
Alexander Vasilyevich Tikhonov is the author of the theory of governability of spontaneous social processes, the syncretic mechanism, power-management regulation, and the concept of socio-cultural personalized management model. He has also developed a method for establishing social facts in the conditions of "problem shift". In the 1970s, he participated in the research of Corresponding Member N.I. Lapin on the "Social Organization of Industrial Enterprises" and V.A. Yadov's panel study "Man and His Work". Tikhonov is one of the organizers of the preparation and conduct of the III All-Russian Sociological Congress (October 2008).
Since 2005, Tikhonov has been the head of the Center for Management Sociology and Social Technologies at the Institute of Sociology of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In 2009, the Laboratory was opened at the Center, where experimental methods for studying the formation of the national innovation system in the country are developed (research is carried out as part of the Russian Academy of Sciences Presidium program). He is the author of more than 120 works on the methodology and methods of sociological research, management sociology, organizations, labor, and culture. Tikhonov is also involved in teaching and supervising graduate and doctoral students.

Alexander Tikhonov holds the position of the first Vice President of the Russian Society of Sociologists (ROS) for coordinating research projects. He is also the Head of the Research Committee of the Russian Society of Sociologists on Management Sociology and Organizations and a member of the Board of the Community of Professional Sociologists (SOPSO).
