Biography of Alexander Zaychikov
Alexander Zaychikov is a Kazakh weightlifter who became the world champion in 2015 and won a bronze medal at the Russian President's Cup in the same year. Born in Belarus, Zaychikov started his weightlifting career in Kyzylorda, Kazakhstan. He is trained by Arman Abdreev, Vilory Pak, and Nurzhan Smakhanov.
Early Achievements
Zaychikov's success in weightlifting began early in his career. He won a bronze medal at the Asian Youth Championship in 2008 and a silver medal at the World Youth Championship in 2009. In 2012, he participated in the Olympic Games in London, finishing 12th in the 105 kg category with a total lift of 360 kg (155+205).
Continued Success and Doping Controversy
In the following years, Zaychikov continued to excel in the sport. He won a silver medal at the Universiade in Kazan and became the Asian champion in 2013. However, his achievements were overshadowed when he was later disqualified for using banned substances.
World Champion
In November 2015, Zaychikov made a remarkable comeback by winning the gold medal at the World Championship in Houston. He became the world champion in the 105 kg category with a snatch of 191 kg and a clean and jerk of 230 kg, totaling 421 kg.
Continued Success and Academic Pursuits
In December 2015, Zaychikov further proved his excellence by winning a silver medal at the fifth Russian President's Cup in Grozny. He lifted 190 kg in the snatch and 226 kg in the clean and jerk, totaling 416 kg.
Aside from his athletic career, Zaychikov is also pursuing a degree in Physical Education at the Kyzylorda State University named after Korkyt-Ata. He holds the title of "Master of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan" in the international class.
