Alexander Zhdanov

In 1956-1957, the subject attended a military school for initial pilot training in the Air Force. From 1957 to 1960, he was a cadet at the Chuhuiv Military Aviation School for Pilots. Later, he graduated from the Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute in 1968, specializing in machine building technology, metal cutting machines, and tools.
In 2003, he defended his doctoral dissertation on "Thermoimpulse Technologies for Surface Cleaning of Aircraft Engine Component Parts" at the National Aerospace University named after N.E. Zhukovsky.
Professional Career
From 1960 to 1976, the subject held various positions at the "FED" plant, including fitter-adjuster, engineer, and head of the research bureau for product defect analysis. Subsequently, from 1976 to 1979, he was the head of the reliability department design bureau at the Kharkiv Machine-Building Plant named after F.E. Dzerzhinsky.
From 1979 to 1986, he served as deputy chief engineer, from 1986 to 1987 as chief engineer, and from 1987 to 1993 as general director of the Kharkiv Production Association "FED". From September 1993 to 2014, he was the director of the State Enterprise "HMZ "FED" and the president of the scientific and production corporation "FED".
Since 2014, he has been the chairman of the Supervisory Board of PJSC "FED".
Political Activity
In 2006, the subject was a candidate for the People's Deputy of Ukraine from the Party of Regions, number 285 on the list. Additionally, he was a member of the Party of Regions. He also served as a deputy of the Kharkiv City Council from the Party of Regions.
Awards and Recognition
In 2004, the subject was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine with the Order of the State for his outstanding personal contributions to the development of domestic mechanical engineering and selfless work over many years.
He has also received the Order "For Merit" of the ІІІ and ІІ degrees (1999 and 2002, respectively), as well as the title of Honored Mechanical Engineer of Ukraine (1997).
Moreover, he holds the Certificate of Honor from the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine (1999) and is a Honorary Citizen of Kharkiv.
Family
The subject's father was Andriy Vasyliovych (1908-1992) and his mother was Agafya Yakivna (1914-1988). He is married to Alla Grigorievna (born 1939) and has two children: son Igor (born 1962) and daughter Natalia (born 1963).
