Alexander Zingman

Alexander Zingman is a Belarusian businessman who has been working in Africa for 20 years, leading projects in various sectors including agriculture, logistics, mining, and infrastructure construction.

Early Life and Education

Zingman was born on November 26, 1966, in Minsk, Belarus. In the 1980s, he emigrated to the United States with his parents, where his father worked as a computer specialist. From 1983 to 1985, he served in the Soviet Army's Prikarpat Military District.

Zingman studied at the Belarusian State Polytechnic Institute from 1985 to 1989, graduating as an engineer in robotics. Later, from 1991 to 1995, he pursued a Master's degree in business marketing at the University of Illinois, Chicago.

Career

In 2011, Zingman worked as the Commercial Director for Eastern Europe at Contractus, a Polish agricultural company. In 2015, he accompanied Contractus Director Witold Karczewski on a visit to Tanzania. In 2018, he became the Honorary Consul of Zimbabwe in Belarus.

Zingman has also been involved in investing in agricultural projects, particularly supplying Belarusian agricultural equipment to African countries.

Controversies

In 2018, Zingman became the subject of a controversial article in the Belarusian state newspaper "SB-Belarus Today" due to a land dispute in which he was accused of blocking sunlight to his neighbors.

In 2021, Zingman was arrested in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) upon his arrival at Lubumbashi airport. He was released without charge after 13 days.

Projects in Zimbabwe

Zingman has played a significant role in promoting trade relations between Belarus and Zimbabwe. In 2020, he announced a deal worth $58 million for the supply of Belarusian agricultural equipment to Zimbabwe. He also established a service center in Zimbabwe to provide maintenance and training for local specialists.

Other Activities

Zingman organized the first Belarus-Africa Forum in 2017. In 2019, he accompanied a Belarusian government delegation to Harare, Zimbabwe, in his capacity as Honorary Consul.

Family

Zingman's father is a civil engineer, and his mother is a physiotherapist. He is married to Elizaveta Denisenovich, the Marketing Director of the Falconé restaurant in Minsk. They have four children: Максим, Денис, Давид, and Маргарита.
