Alexander Supan, an Austrian geographer and meteorologist, was born in Görz, Austria (now Gorizia, Italy). He received his education in the prestigious universities of Graz, Vienna, Halle, and Leipzig.

Academic Career:

In 1877, Supan began his academic career as a lecturer at the University of Chernivtsi (present-day Ukraine). By 1880, he had become a professor.

In 1884, Supan moved to Gotha, Germany, where he assumed the role of editor for the influential geographical journal "Petermanns Geographische Mittheilungen." He held this position until 1909.
