Early Life and Career
Alexandra Kuzhel was born in Ukraine and graduated from the Zaporizhzhia branch of the DmetI (later Zaporizhzhia Industrial Institute) in 1975 with a degree in metallurgical engineering. She worked as an engineer and a junior research fellow at the Department of Industrial Economics at the Zaporizhzhia Industrial Institute. In 1983, she obtained a second degree in economics.
Political Career
In 1994, Kuzhel was elected as a deputy to the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament) and appointed Deputy Head of the parliamentary commission on economic policy and national economy management. She was expelled from the Liberal Party of Ukraine for her pro-Marchuk tendencies.
In 1998, she was appointed as Chairwoman of the State Committee of Ukraine for Entrepreneurship Development. During her tenure, she advocated for government support of small businesses.
Scandal and Dismissal
In 2002, Kuzhel was involved in a scandal in Kharkiv. On June 9, 2009, she was expelled from the Party of Regions by the party's Political Council.
Personal Life
Alexandra Kuzhel has been married twice. She has two sons, Dmitry from her first marriage and Nikita from her second.
