Alexey Kamannin, born on July 6, 1978, in the Odessa region, began his handball journey in 1994 at the DYUSSH sports school in Chisinau. Under the guidance of his first coach, A.V. Kovalenko, he honed his skills as a standout player in the Moldovan handball academy.
Professional Career
Kamannin's professional career took off with "CSKA-SportAkademiya" in 1999. He made his mark on the national scene by joining the Russian national team in the same year. In 2000, he celebrated his first Russian Championship title, a distinction he would hold for nine consecutive years, dominating Russian handball from 2000 to 2008.
In 2001, Kamannin became a pivotal player for "Chekhovskie Medvedi," solidifying his status as one of Russia's leading handballers. His international achievements include a 5th-place finish at the 2003 World Championship and a similar result at the 2004 European Championship. In 2006, he captured the prestigious Cup Winners' Cup of European Countries.
Olympic Glory
The pinnacle of Kamannin's career came at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where he represented Russia alongside renowned handballers like Samvel Aslanyan, Oleg Grams, and Konstantin Igropulo. Despite their valiant efforts, the Russian team narrowly missed the podium, finishing in sixth place.
Club Career
Throughout his career, Alexey Kamannin showcased his talents for various Moscow-based handball clubs, including "Yunost," "Sport Akademiya," and "CSKA-SportAkademiya." He benefited from the expert coaching of A.V. Kovalenko, A.M. Solovyov, and V.S. Maximov.

Presently, Kamannin remains an integral member of "Chekhovskie Medvedi" under the mentorship of renowned coach V.S. Maximov.
