Early Life and EducationAlexey Movchan was born in Kremenchuk, Ukraine, on February 12, 1994. He holds a degree in Finance and Credit from the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. He has also studied at the Ukrainian Catholic University and the Kyiv School of Economics.
Career in the Public Sector
Prior to his election to the Verkhovna Rada, Movchan served as Deputy Head of Project and Program Management at Prozorro from 2017 to 2019. He is a member of the non-governmental organization "Young Reformers Club" and the founder of the public organization "Principle."
Political Journey
Movchan ran as an independent candidate for the Verkhovna Rada in the 2019 Ukrainian parliamentary election, representing District No. 150 in Poltava Oblast. He defeated prominent politician Konstantin Zhevago. After his election, Movchan joined the "Servant of the People" party faction. He currently serves on the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Economic Development.
Assistant Controversy
Movchan gained significant media attention when he hired 24-year-old dancer Valeria Hrytsenko as his assistant. After Hrytsenko's resume was discovered by Ukrainian news organizations and revealed details of her previous work experience, she removed the information, stating that she had forgotten about the websites. Movchan defended his assistant, noting her work in Kremenchuk.
