Fatal Incident at Kiev Checkpoint
On a fateful night at a Kiev checkpoint, Judge Alexei Tandyr of the Makarovsky District Court fatally struck a 23-year-old National Guard soldier, leaving behind three grieving children. Eyewitnesses attest to the judge's apparent intoxication and reckless driving in his Lexus. Despite being urged to submit to a breathalyzer test, Judge Tandyr refused.
Judicial Experience
Judge Tandyr holds a doctorate in law and has served in the judiciary for over 12 years. Since 2018, he has been an esteemed member of the Ukrainian Bar Association and the Permanent Working Group of the Council of Judges of Ukraine. His active participation in numerous legal forums and conferences showcases his engagement within the judicial community.
Allegations and Precedents
However, amidst these accolades, concerns have been raised by activists regarding Judge Tandyr's alleged dismissal of several cases related to driving under the influence (Article 130 of the Ukrainian Code of Administrative Offenses). Notably, in 2018, Judge Dmitry Usaty of the Kiev-Svyatoshyn Court also faced charges of intoxicated driving after a similar incident.
